WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA) -- Newly released data shows the Washington region is just the third jurisdiction where home prices surpassed the highs set by the 2000 housing boom.

The median price for a house in the District climbed to 457,500, up from a previous high of $450,000.

In Arlington and Alexandria home prices have soared to more than half a million dollars just in this year alone.
