WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- In our opinion, the Suitland Rams enter the 2012 season as the best team on paper in the Prince George's 4A division -- which also means they have a legitimate shot at advancing to the Maryland state final.  

The return of running back Anthony Squire is a significant factor in the Rams ranking in the top 10. At 5-foot-8, 195 pounds, an opposing coach described Squire as "a human bowling ball." The senior rushed for more than 1,600 yards and totaled 23 touchdowns during a fruitful 2011 campaign. He's garnering some interest from schools in North Carolina, including Conference USA power East Carolina. 

Record Last Season: 10-2

Big Question: Can Suitland win close, low-scoring games? Last season the Rams were upended 14-7 in the playoffs by Flowers, and struggled in games where their offensive prowess wasn't displayed.

Strengths: Scoring points. In six of Suitland's 10 victories last season, the offense posted at least 39 points.

Best Player: Taivon Jacobs. The Ohio State commit is one of the top playmakers in the entire country. Jacobs is everything you could want and more from a high school football player: a wide receiver with unbelievable speed, a defensive back with a knack for the ball and an electrifying return man who could score on any play. Fifteen total touchdowns is not out of the question. 

Breakthrough Player: Anthony Jackson. The junior linebacker will be asked to play a much larger role as a leader in 2012. And in Prince George's run-heavy division, we all know how important linebackers can be to a successful season.

Why Fans Should Be Excited: We don't like repeating ourselves at USA Today HSS, but Taivon Jacobs' speed alone is worth the price of admission.

"I can't say enough about the kid. He's a track athlete. Last year he was among the top [sprinters] in the nation in the 200 and 400 meter races. He's unbelievably explosive," said head coach Ed Shields.
