CHANTILLY, Va. (WUSA) - Two aircraft collided Friday afternoon on a taxiway at Dulles Airport, according to a spokesman for the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority.
He said that about 3:15 p.m., a collision took place between an A330 Lufthansa Airbus and a United Express Commuter plane near Gate A.
"A Lufthansa aircraft clipped the tail of Colgan flight 3912 operating as United Express (PIT-IAD) during taxi to the gate at Dulles International Airport (IAD). The Captain of the Colgan Q400 aircraft was able to continue to the gate, and all 68 passengers safely deplaned. There were no reported injuries. The incident is under investigation and we are working with both the FAA and NTSB," United Airlines said in a statement.
Fire and rescue responded to the incident. There were no injuries but there was some damage to the exterior of the planes.
The runways were not affected and normal operations continue at the airport.
