WOODBRIDGE, Va. (WUSA)-- Weeks after a 4-year-old boy died from a gun shot wound to the head, Virginia police arrested and charged his 27-year-old step-father with cruelty and injury to children on Tuesday.
Jasmine Matthews of Woodbridge, Va. left a loaded handgun in an unsecured vehicle parked in front of his home, according to the police.
His stepson found the handgun and accidentally shot himself in the head. Police say he was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The incident took place at the 14800 block of Empire Street in Woodbridge around 3:30p on July 25.
