WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- The amount of money flowing into new companies this year has been dropping around the nation with Venture Capitol investments down 12 percent at last count, but the DC region has been holding steady. Start-ups in Maryland, D.C. and Virginia hauled in $206 million in venture capital in the second quarter.
One start-up attracting money -- and attention -- addresses a long-time social problem. Do you ever walk to into a wedding reception or a party without knowing anyone else in the room? Social Tables has a tool for you. Find out more about the company in Jessica Doyle's report above.
Social Tables does have competition. An app called Weduary allows couples to invite wedding guest over Facebook -- and even lets you see if any guests are single. Other popular wedding tool websites include TheKnot.com, and WeddingWire -- though they do not current offer a social component.
