WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- The National Zoo's cheetah cubs now have names and they are Olympic inspired.  In partnership with the USA Track & Field team, the Zoo announced that they have named the cubs Carmelita and Justin after Carmelita Jeter and Justin Gatlin, the faster American sprinters in the 100-meter dash on Saturday and Sunday in London.

On August 4, Jeter won the silver medal in the 100-meter sprint after finishing in 10.78 seconds.  On August 5, Gatlin won the bronze finishing in 9.79 seconds.   Check out photos of the cheetah cubs in the slideshow above.
