WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA) -- Burch Farms has expanded its recall of Athena cantaloupes.

They may be contaminated with Listeria, an organism that can cause serious illness and fatal infections.

The red label on the whole melons are stamped with PLU number 4319.

The recall involves about 188,9902 melons that were shipped  between July 15 and July 27 to stores nationwide including retailers in Maryland and Virginia.
