CALIFORNIA, Md. (WUSA) -- The St. Mary's County Bureau of Criminal Investigation says detectives investigating multiple burglaries and destruction of property identified a 19-year-old suspect who also allegedly had a sexual relationship with two 14-year-old girls.
Nineteen-year-old Aaron B. Ledbetter and 18-year-old Steven M. Patrey are accused of committing burglaries and destroying property in the Wildewood subdivision. Two juveniles also have charges pending against them.
Authorities say that in June, Ledbetter, Patrey, and two juveniles entered the garages of homes in the Challenger Estates neighborhood in the Wildewood subdivision and stole property. According to authorities, Ledbetter and a 17-year-old caused extensive damage when they broke into a home in St. Andrews Estates in California, Md. On June 14, Ledbetter, Patrey and two juveniles got into a Wildewood swimming pool during the night and caused more than $4,000 worth of damage before stealing merchandise valued at more than $300.
During the investigation, detectives found out that Ledbetter had engaged in a sexual relationship with two 14-year-old girls in March.
Ledbetter was charged with six counts of second-degree burglary, one count of fourth degree burglary, six counts of theft, two counts of malicious destruction of property over $500, and fourth degree sex offenses. Ledbetter is being held without bond.
Patrey was charged with first degree burglary, second degree burglary, malicious destruction of property valued at over $500 and theft under $1000. Patrey was released on $5,000 bond.
