LEESBURG, Va (WUSA/Town of Leesburg)--Get out that GPS!  Residents and visitors to Leesburg will be encountering road closures on Thursday, August 2; thus alternative routes will be required.

The reason for these closures is a President Obama re-election campaign event being held at Loudoun County High School on Dry Mill Road.

The following roads will be closed on Thursday:

1. Dry Mill Road, from Catoctin Circle to Wage Drive, beginning at 2:30pm through the end of the event.  Pedestrian traffic on Dry Mill Road will also be stopped prior to and during the visit.

2.  Catoctin Circle, from Rosemeade Drive to Belmont Drive, beginning at 2:30pm through the end of the event.  Pedestrian traffic on Catoctin Circle will also be stopped prior to and during the visit.

3.  Lee Avenue, from Dominion Academy to Dry Mill Road, beginning at 6:30pm through the end of the event.  Pedestrian traffic on Lee Avenue will also be stopped prior to and during the visit. Neighborhoods off Dry Mill Road, west of Lee Drive, will be accessible via Dry Mill Road from west of the town limits.

4. W&OD Trail will be closed from Catoctin Circle to Wage Drive beginning at 6:30pm. The trail normally closes at dusk.

Only those with tickets will be allowed to attend the President's campaign event.

According to a spokesperson for the Town of Leesburg, the Obama campaign recommends that those with tickets park at the Loudoun County Fairgrounds which is located at 17558 Dry Mill Road in Leesburg.  Shuttle buses will be available to transport attendees to and from the event.
