WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- A violent night in the District has left one man dead and three others injured, two of which are juveniles.
Members of the Metropolitan Police Department were first called to the 4800 block of Alabama Avenue near F Street in Southeast after receiving a report of a double shooting around 11:20 Monday night. Officers arriving at the scene found a man and a teenage boy suffering from gun shot wounds to their legs. They were transported to a local hospital where they are expected to recover.
An initial investigation has revealed the two victims were hit by gunfire in a drive-by shooting. Police are looking for a silver car that fled from the scene.
Approximately ten minutes later, MPD dispatchers were alerted to another shooting, this time in the 2700 block of Naylor Road near Alabama Avenue in Southeast. Investigators believe the incident started when a group of ten suspects, ranging in age from 15 to 25 years of age, approached a smaller group of teens and attempted to rob them. One of the victims tried to run away from the assailants, but was shot in the shoulder before he could get away.
At this point there is no detailed description available of the suspect who pulled the trigger.
The last shooting was reported around 11:40 p.m. near 47th and Brooks Streets in Northeast. That's where police found a man who had been shot in the back. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators believe their suspect is a black or hispanic man, who was last seen wearing a Miami Heat ball cap, black T-shirt, blue jeans, and Nike Foamposite tennis shoes.
Police are asking anyone with information that could lead to an arrest in any of these incidents to call the Metropolitan Police Department at 202-727-9099.
