MANASSAS, Va. (WUSA) - A man eluding police on foot after an officer ordered him to stop his car then fought with a police K-9 before being arrested, according to Prince William County Police.
The driver, Devon L. Moure Wilkerson of Manassas, failed to stop at 3:33 a.m. on Sunday, when a County officer tried to stop him in the area of Coverstone Dr. and Notre Dame St in Manassas. Wilkerson continued driving to Hiram Court where he stopped the car and fled to a wooded area on foot.

A police K-9 was used to search the area, and located Wilkerson, who then struggled with the dog . Wilkerson was detained and treated at an area hospital for non-life threatening injuries. No injuries were reported to the dog or any officers, and no property damage was reported.
Wilkerson was charged with assault & battery on a police K9, driving under the influence, felony eluding, resisting arrest, driving on a suspended or revoked operator's license, possession of a schedule I or II narcotic [cocaine] and possession of marijuana. His court date and bond information are unavailable.
