WASHINGTON, D.C. (WUSA) The election is just over 100 days away and we're already inundated with political ads. I got a voice mail today from Shirley in Rockville who said she is fed up with political commercials featuring politicians, in her words, downgrading each other.
President Obama and Mitt Romney have major differences on the size and scope of government, on taxes, on health policy,.on who oughta sit on the Supreme Court.
But to look at their ads you'd think the biggest issue at stake is whether Romney would be outsourcer-in-chief and whether President Obama is lying about Romney being outsourcer-in-chief.
I get it. This election is really all about the economy but Shirley, who may well be one of those increasingly rare undecided voters, also said she's wishing there was another choice on the ballot because Romney and the president have "downgraded" each other so much. She doesn't want to vote for either one.
In other words, even if the debate gets a bit more serious by election day, people like Shirley may no longer be interested in listening.
