Controversy over hydraulic fracturing - the procedure that uses water, sand and chemicals to extract natural gas from shale - has led some to consider alternatives. One Calgary-based company, GasFrac Energy Eervices, is pushing for the adoption of a water-less fracking technology that uses liquid petroleum gas.
