RESTON, Va. (WUSA) -- A major accident involving a Super Shuttle van and an Audi sedan brought traffic to a crawl near the Dulles Toll Road on Wednesday afternoon, officials said.
The SuperShuttle struck an "attenuator" near a jersey wall, and then collided with the Audi.
The crash injured five people, one of those severely, officials said.
Dulles Airport Police are currently working an accident on the westbound lanes of the Dulles Access Road near the Reston Parkway.
The accident closed both lanes of the access road shut down and two lanes of the westbound toll road. All eastbound lanes of the access and toll road are open.
The person who was injured severely was flown to the hospital.
There are major delays expected, so avoid the area, officials said.
The SuperShuttle company issued a statement Wednesday evening:
SuperShuttle is in the process of investigating the facts surrounding the serious accident that occurred today on the Dulles Access Road. Our first concerns are for the condition of the passengers and driver. We understand that at least one passenger was seriously injured. We have investigators on the scene and are working closely with law enforcement officials. We will comment further when we have more information regarding the accident.
