MONTGOMERY VILLAGE, Md. (WUSA) -- One man is dead after a violent motorcycle crash in Montgomery Village late Thursday night.
Captain Paul Starks, spokesman for the Montgomery County Police Department, says officers and Fire/Rescue personnel responded to East Village Avenue and Doubleland Road after receiving a report of a crash in the area around 10:22 p.m. When first responders arrived on the scene they found an unconscious man and a mangled Honda motorcycle in the road.
According to Capt. Starks, the initial investigation indicates the 46-year-old driver of the motorcycle was traveling eastbound on East Village Avenue when the motorcycle inexplicably hit the left-side curb of the center median after crossing over Doubleland Road. The man lost control of the motorcycle, striking a tree in the median. The critically injured man died at the scene.
So far the identity of the victim has not been released, pending notification of next-of-kin.
Capt. Starks says detectives are still working to figure out what may have led to the crash, and are asking anyone with information to contact the Montgomery County Police Department at 301-840-2435. Callers can stay anonymous.
