COLLEGE PARK, Md. (WUSA) -- We expect to learn later today what sparked a police-involved shooting in Prince George's County on Thursday night.

Officers say they were speaking to a man on Lakeland Road in College Park. Then officers and the man started shooting at each other. The suspect ran away and then there was another exchange of gunfire.

The suspect was taken into custody. He was taken to the hospital with non life threatening injuries. 

No police officers or bystanders were hurt.

Police are expected to give us an update on the situation that closed the area of Route 1 for hours.
