WASHINGTON (WUSA) - A D.C. nonprofit provided 215 free cab rides to would-be drunk drivers on Wednesday for Independence Day.
This SoberRide program provided by the Washington Regional Alcohol Program (WRAP), offered rides throughout the Maryland counties of Montgomery and Prince George's; and throughout the Northern Virginia counties of Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun and Prince William.
In its 30th year, WRAP offers its SoberRide program on St. Patrick's Day, Independence Day, Halloween and mid-December through New Year's Eve. Local residents interested in using this service have to call 1-800-200-TAXI. Area taxicab companies participate in this no-cost service up to a $30 fare.
