ARLINGTON, Va. (WUSA) - Due to last Friday's severe storm, Arlington National Cemetery officials report significant storm damage comparable to Hurricane Irene at the gravesite.
Arlington National Cemetery lost eight large trees including two white oaks, and a red oak between the ages of 225 to 240 years old. Officials say that 17 additional trees are also damaged from the storm and will need to be removed.
Cemetery clean-up crews have been working since Saturday to cut and remove the fallen trees. There were also a few broken headstones damaged from fallen trees.
