ALEXANDRIA, Va. (WUSA) -- A total of 31 vehicles were stopped and three were arrested during the Alexandria Police Department's roaming DWI enforcement efforts.
The checkpoint went into effect on Friday, June 29 at 8 p.m. Vehicles that were committing traffic infractions were stopped to ensure the driver was not impaired by alcohol or drugs.
Officers arrested two drivers for DWI charges and one for possession of marijuana. A total of 26 summonses were also issued for miscellaneous traffic offenses.
The roaming enforcement effort was to extend until 6 a.m. on Saturday, June 30 but was cut off at midnight on Friday due to the severe storm that hit the area.
