SILVER SPRING, Md. (WUSA) -- A 71-year-old woman was found dead Saturday morning in her home in Silver Spring after a tree fell on her home overnight.
Montgomery County Police are investigating the death of the woman after they forced entry into her home in the 10000 block of Grant Avenue Saturday morning. The apparent cause of death is due to a large Maple tree falling through the roof of her home and onto her bed. The cause of death will be confirmed by autopsy.
The woman lived alone.
Montgomery County Police and Fire and Rescue officials are asking neighbors to check at homes where there is major tree damage and call 9-1-1 to report any concerns.
