WASHINGTON, D.C. (WUSA) - Thunderstorms whipped across the DC region on Friday night, leaving hundreds of thousands in the dark and several dead.
Confirmed storm related deaths have been reported in Springfield, Va., Washington, D.C. and Silver Spring, Md.
67,671 Pepco costumers in the District
are out of power. In Montgomery County, almost all Pepco customers are
out of power with 226,779 customers affected. About half of Pepco customers in Prince George's County are without power with 128,221 customers affected.
In the Northern Virginia area, Dominion Power has 402,853 customers without power, almost half of their customers.
BG&E in Montgomery County has 6,691 customers out of power with only
316 outages restored. In Prince George's County, BG&E has 53,038
customers without power and 6,304 outages restored.
Virginia is also reporting severe power outtages. A spokeswoman from Dominion Power reported more than 450, 000 customers without power due to the high winds and lightning.
