RESTON, Va. (WUSA) - Animal Control Officers arrested a 26-year-old Reston Zoo director on Friday after a five-month-long investigation.
According to Fairfax County Police, Meghan Mogensen of Silver Spring was charged with animal cruelty and possession of a controlled substance after supposed improper treatment of a sick wallaby, and the improper use of euthanasia drugs.
After following up on the death of an adult wallaby at the Reston Zoo located at 1228 Hunter Mill Road, Fairfax County Police started an investigation dealing with Mogensen's alleged improper treatment of injured animals.

Police say a search warrant was used when evidence was found, and that the investigation is still going on.
Fairfax County Police say the USDA, VDACS, and Animal Control Officers are working together to solve this case.
