MANASSAS, Va. (WUSA) -- Manassas City Police say an ice cream vendor was in a neighborhood selling ice cream from his car when he was assaulted on Monday afternoon.

Police say the incident happened at approximately 4:35 p.m. in the 9300 block of Taney Road. The vendor told police he was attacked by four males, described as black, between the ages of 16 and 20 years old.

The vendor suffered injuries to his left eye, nose and left elbow and was transported to Prince William Hospital. 

Police say it is not known if the males were out to rob the vendor or just assault him.
