WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- Northbound Anacostia Freeway (DC 295) will be closed between Howard Road and Pennsylvania Avenue, SE starting at 10 p.m. on Tuesday.
According to DDOT, one lane of the roadway will be closed at 8 p.m. before the full closure two hours later. Drivers will also see a single lane closure in the southbound direction at 8 p.m. DDOT says the closure will be "followed by 20-minute intermittent traffic stoppages beginning at 10 p.m., through 5 a.m. the following day."
DDOT will have these closures in order to demolish the 13th Street ramp and put up overhead sign structures over the Anacostia Freeway.
As far as detours, DDOT says northbound DC 295 traffic will be directed onto the inbound 11th Street Freeway Bridge (I-695 westbound), to M Street, SE to get to the eastbound Southeast/Southwest Freeway using the 9th Street, SE entrance ramp. From the eastbound Southeast/Southwest Freeway, drivers will access northbound DC 295 via Pennsylvania Avenue, SE.
