(WUSA) -- If your student loans have been stressing you out lately, we want you to know you are not alone.
Americans now owe more on student loans than on credit cards. All that debt is pretty much impossible to wipe out in a personal bankruptcy, but Daily Finance suggests a couple of jobs that college grads should consider to help attack their loans:
- Become a Teacher. You might be able to get up to $17,500 of your Stafford loans repaid. Perkins loans may qualify for full forgiveness for teachers who spend 5 years in low-income schools or high-demand programs.
- Join the Peace Corps. You can cancel up to 70% of your Perkins student loan debt while you see the world as a member of the Peace Corps.
- Become a rural Veterinarian. If you love working with animals and hate living in debt, this may be the option for you. The Department of Agriculture's Veterinary Medicine Loan Repayment Program offers up to $75,000 in loan forgiveness to qualified applicants.
- Work for a state. Maryland and a couple other states will help pay off loans for state employees who have studied law. Several programs will also pay off loans for lawyers who work with non-profits or public interest groups.
