Angel L Jones, Gaithersburg City Manager Resigns, 'To Pursue Other Career Opportunities'

GAITHERSBURG, Md. (WUSA) -- Gaithersburg's city manager since 2008 has resigned, effective Friday. 

Mayor Sidney A. Katz says that Angel L. Jones is "resigning to pursue other career opportunities." No other details about those opportunities were shared on Thursday.

In a press release on Thursday, Jones is quoted as saying, "It has been rewarding to serve the citizens of Gaithersburg and to work with so many talented and dedicated employees to implement the City's strategic goals and objectives... During my tenure much has been accomplished and, due to my guidance, I leave the City in a strong financial position."

In the press release, officials list some of her accomplishments, including Hidden Creek, Archtone and Crown Farm.

Deputy city Manager Tony Tomasello will serve as acting city manager until a new city manager is chosen, say officials.
