LOVETTSVILLE, Va. (WUSA) -- The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office says Wednesday afternoon, an 8-year-old boy was accidentally shot when a family member was unloading a firearm.

The shooting happened in the 38000 block of Stevens Road around 3 p.m. 

The 8-year-old was taken to a hospital and held for observation. Authorities say his injuries are not considered life threatening.
