FAIRFAX, Va. (WUSA) -- A woman and an 8-year-old girl died after an accident on E Lee Highway near Jermantown Road in Fairfax.
A Honda Odyssey and a Honda Civic collided at the intersection in the 11100 block E Lee Highway at about 11 p.m. Tuesday, say police.
The driver of the Honda Civic, 27-year-old Dejon L'Air Williams of Cross Junction, Va., died at the scene. Police say her 8-year-old daughter Victoria Williams, who was a passenger in her car, died after being taken to the hospital. Her 6-year-old daughter Faith Williams is in critical condition.
The driver of the Honda Odyssey is a 38-year-old man. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Police say that the Honda Civic sideswiped another car while passing on the left going eastbound on Lee Highway. Then, the car hit a median strip and continued traveling east on Lee Highway. Next, it struck the Honda Odyssey that was making a left turn to go east on Lee Highway.
Police say speeding was the cause of the accident, which is the first fatal crash in the city this year.
