EDGEWATER, Md. (WUSA) -- A man has been arrested for shooting another man in the chest and hand with a nail gun. The incident was originally thought to be an industrial accident.
Monday morning, Anne Arundel County authorities responded to the 4200 block of Sweet Leaf Ln. They found a 34-year-old man who had been shot in the upper body with a nail from a nail gun.
The man, who is from Laurel, Md., was flown to Shock Trauma in Baltimore for treatment of his possible life threatening injuries.
Authorities originally thought that the incident might be an accident but as they investigated they became aware of a dispute with another member of the construction crew working on framing a house. Authorities now say that the co-worker, 41-year-old Guillermo L. Lopez-Molina of Hyattsville, shot the victim with the nail gun sometime during the dispute.
Lopez-Molina was later taken into custody. He has been charged with first degree assault, second degree assault and reckless endangerment.
Police have not named the worker who was injured yet.
