SEVERN, Md. (WUSA) -- Anne Arundel County Police say a Glen Burnie man has been arrested after allegedly trying to hit two women with his car in Severn on May 30.

According to police, 34-year-old David Charles Lane of Glen Burnie, Md. reportedly drove a white Lexus through the Walmart parking lot on George Clauss Boulevard towards a 30-year-old woman and a 19-year-old woman. Witnesses and victims told police that the driver appeared as if he was intentionally trying to strike them. Then, the car suddenly stopped near the women, Lane reportedly got out and began launching obscenities and racially derogatory comments at the women, say police.

A man who was witnessing the incident tried to step in but the driver took out a knife and reportedly waved it at him. Lane then threatened the women with his knife before getting back in his car and trying to strike one of the women again, according to police.

Lane also had a female passenger in his car who reportedly punched and shoved one of the women.

He and his passenger fled from the scene but reportedly returned. That's when the driver implied there was a gun in his car. The car took off again and Lane and his passenger were found at a home in Glen Burnie.

Lane has been charged with  three counts of First Degree Assault, three counts of Second Degree Assault and Reckless Driving.

Police are seeking charges against the 41-year-old female passenger, whose name has not been released.
