WHEATON, Md. (WUSA) -- Montgomery County Police say an 18-year-old man was struck at the intersection of Edwin Street and Centerhill Street in Wheaton on Thursday.
Police officers found Malcom Jamar Polk of Wheaton lying in the roadway at approximately 4:50 p.m. after receiving a call.
Police say a blue 2007 Nissan Sentra was traveling northbound on Edwin Street. The Nissan struck Polk and fled the scene of the collision. Polk, who attends Kennedy High School, suffered critical injuries and was taken to Suburban Hospital.
Detectives found the vehicle and identified the driver as 18-year-old Tyree Kenneth Edge of Silver Spring.
