Southbound 301 Reopens After Violent Crash

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (WUSA) -- The southbound lanes of Route 301 are now open after an almost four hour closure caused by a violent early-morning crash in Upper Marlboro.

Maryland State Police are investigating the collision, which occurred between a tractor trailer and a passenger vehicle on Route 301 (Crain Highway) at Trade Zone Avenue just after 2:00 a.m.

State Police say one male victim has been transported to Prince George's Hospital in critical condition. There is no word on any other injuries at this time.

The southbound lanes of Route 301 reopened at Trade Zone Avenue just before 6:00 a.m.

The investigation is ongoing.
