ANNANDALE, Va. (WUSA) -- Fairfax County Police have charged a Burke, Va., man in connection with the bomb threat at Annandale High School earlier today.

Police investigation led to Marco Antonio Verduo Toledo, 19, of 5451 Tilalary Court in Burke. He was charged with felony threats to bomb and criminal trespass.

Toledo had called the WUSA9 newsroom early this morning and an alert 9News Now staffer got his name and number, and phoned Fairfax County Police with that information. They say her call helped investigators quickly identify Toledo.

The bomb threat to Annandale High School was called in to a local television station at 4:30 a.m.   Police arrived shortly after and closed-off the school to investigate.  They sent a robot to tear apart an unidentified backpack and photograph it. Nothing dangerous was found. 

Meanwhile, students who were already on buses were held there for three hours until part of the school re-opened.  One student said there were fist fights on board some buses and one one, the students broke out through the emergency exit. 

No information from the Fairfax County Public Schools was put out until  9:40 a.m., five hours after the called-in threat.  

Student who had been waiting at Starbucks  told us the only information they were getting was from the student newspaper's twitter account.   

Parents were angry not knowing their their children where and a few showed up later to pull their kids out for the day. 

Fairfax School Spokesman John Torre apologized to parents and students for not getting the information out sooner.   He said they were hoping it was going to be resolved quicker than it was.  He said it was like "the perfect storm" with students already on the buses when they realized police would not be opening the building when school was supposed to start. 

Fairfax School officials say that the threat had a ripple effect on bus schedules causing delays in the pick up of students attending the following elementary schools:
