Christian Washington says a teacher taped him to a chair.
WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA) --- The mother of a vision-impaired nine-year-old student at the Friendship Public Charter School on 19th Street, NE says the school has fired a teacher there after that teacher taped the boy to a chair on Wednesday afternoon.
"I don't think this should happen to anyone's child, ever," Terik Washington told 9News Now.
"His rights were violated. It's against the law. It should never, never, ever come to the point where someone is taped to anything ,ever. If you're not a police officer, you have no right to restrain anyone, ever, " she said.
"What did you think when you were being taped to the chair?" asked 9NewsNow.
"I thought she was out of her mind," Christian Washington replied.
The school told 9News Now on Thursday afternoon that the teacher had been placed on administrative leave, pending an investigation.
But, Thursday evening, Terik Washington says she got a call from school officials.
"Át the end of the day, human resources made a phone call, and she was terminated," Washington said.
9News Now attempts to have school officials confirm the firing were unsuccessful Thursday night.
