FREDERICK COUNTY, Md. (WUSA) -- Authorities responded to the Frederick County Courthouse on Wednesday morning after a courthouse deputy saw a coconut placed next to one of the columns. According to The Frederick County Sheriff's Office, shortly before 8 a.m. the deputy was on a routine perimeter check when he saw a coconut, which appeared to be cut down the center and pieced back together, resting on one of the columns of the building.
Frederick County Sheriff's Office, Frederick Police Department, Frederick County Fire and Rescue Services and the Maryland State Fire Marshal's Bomb Squad responded to the courthouse, which was evacuated.
The State Fire Marshals' Bomb Squad examined the coconut and determined it was safe.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
