CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WUSA) -- A Charlottesville police officer testified on Monday that George Huguely had scrapes and bruises on his arms and legs when he was arrested.

Huguely, a former University of Virginia lacrosse player who is from Chevy Chase, Md. is accused of killing U.Va. lacrosse player Yeardley Love in May 2010. Huguely allegedly beat his on-again, off-again girlfriend in her bedroom in her off-campus apartment before she died. His attorneys say Love's death was an accident.

The officer testified on Monday, saying he found no "impact point" in Yeardley Love's bedroom other that "small smudge" on wall. He also described multiple injuries on the arms and hands of Huguely the morning after the beating. He testified that Huguely told detectives the injuries were from his lacrosse game. Photos were taken of his injuries after he was arrested.

Also on Monday, the judge refused to provide a TV monitor to face the audience so everyone could see evidence and the Huguely videotape statement.

The assistant medical examiner testified that it's hard to date a bruise, and also that Yeardley was badly bruised. The jury saw photos of the bruising, as Yeardley's mother listened to the testimony. The assistant medical examiner pointed to the bruises visible on Yeardley's neck, and said pressure slows and can stop a heart.

The assistant medical examiner testified that Yeardley had bruises around her mouth consistent with "smothering," but that was not the cause of death, and that she had bruises on her scalp consistent with trauma that could have caused her death.

One of few places on Yeardley the medical examiner did not find injury was her nose. Huguely said that was her only injury when he left her.
