CAPITOL HEIGHTS, Md. (WUSA) -- Prince George's County Police said about 5:16 p.m. Wednesday, police received a call for a pedestrian accident at Central Avenue and Daimler Drive in Capitol Heights, Md.
According to police, officers were told that a man was trying to flag down a vehicle but when a dump truck came along, witnesses say that the man reportedly jumped in front of the dump truck.
Police said they are in the early stages of their investigation but it looks like the man may have tried to commit suicide.
Police say the man is still alive and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Westbound Central Avenue is closed between Hill Road and Cindy Lane while police conduct their investigation.
One lane is closed on the eastbound side.
