SILVER SPRING, Md. (WUSA) -- Detectives have charged a man with first-degree murder in the homicide of his wife in the White Oak area of Silver Spring, say Montgomery County Police.
According to police, 68-year-old Henry Gordon Hutchins called police to report that his wife was dead in an apartment on July Drive on Saturday afternoon. Officers who responded to the apartment in the 11400 block of July Drive found 62-year-old Carol Frances Carter in her bedroom with trauma to her upper body. Police say she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Hutchins was taken into custody on Sunday afternoon and charged with first-degree murder on Monday morning.
Hutchins is being held without bond and is scheduled to appear for a bond review hearing Monday at 1 p.m. in Rockville District Court.
The Medical Examiner's Office in Baltimore will conduct an autopsy.
