Montgomery County Police Investigate Suspicious Death in White Oak

SILVER SPRING, Md. (WUSA) -- Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department are investigating a suspicious death that occurred this afternoon in the White Oak area of Silver Spring. According to police, detectives are investigating this death as a homicide.

Police report that this afternoon at approximately 2:49 p.m., officers responded to a call for a death in an apartment in the 11400 block of July Drive.

According to police, a 68-year-old male caller reported that his wife was dead. When officers arrived at the scene they found an adult female, approximately 62 years old, in her bedroom with injuries to her upper body. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man who made the call is being interviewed by detectives and remains in police custody; he has not been charged at this time.

Montgomery County detectives are continuing to investigate the death. The body of the woman will be transported to the Medical Examiner's Office in Baltimore for an autopsy. They ask that if you have information in regards to this incident, please call Homicide detectives at 240-773-5070.
