VERNON, Vt. (AP) - An Amtrak official says a person has been struck by a train in southeastern Vermont.

Amtrak spokeswoman Christina Leeds said the Vermonter passenger train was traveling between Washington, D.C., and St. Albans in Vermont when it struck a "trespasser" on the tracks Sunday evening in Vernon.

Leeds said any information about the person would have to come from local officials. The Vernon police had no immediate details.
