Let's Be Real: For The Love Of Tim Tebow
There are about a zillion sports stories going on right now.
From the NFL to college hoops, to the National Hockey League.
But this weekend, there's only one name on the lips of sports fans, and that's Tim Tebow.
What is it about this single football player Tim Tebow that gets folks so worked up? Deion Sanders or Joe Montana had the hype, but those guys also had supernatural talent. No, this is something different. Tebow is the football equivalent of Brussels Sprouts, beloved or despised, savior or menace, no middle ground
But even the haters are lining up for another bite. Denver's playoff win over the favored Pittsburgh Steelers last week got 42 million viewers, the most watched wild card playoff game ever.
And who knows how many more will be tuning in tomorrow night when Tebow's Broncos travel into Tom Brady Country. There's no mystery to rooting for Tebow. What's not to like about a guy who seems genuinely humble, refreshingly honest, loves what he's doing, and leaves no doubt that it's not all about him.
On the other side, I think Tim Tebow's got so many haters in part because he is so unhatable. I mean, he's gotta be faking it right? Nobody is that nice. That and the fact that if he pulls this off tomorrow, all of us who thought Denver was dumb to draft him so high -- and that Tim Tebow would never amount to a hill of beans in the NFL --will just be wrong
