Youth Killed For Sneakers Had Been Shot Before
WASHINGTON, D.C. (WUSA) -- 9 News Now has learned that 19 year old David Lee Robinson had been shot and wounded in July of 2010.
On a videotape. he displays the staples in his chest, a permanent reminder of the dangers in DC's mean streets.
Robinson of Northwest survived that first attack by a drive by shooter in Southeast.
He wasn't so luck this past Sunday when he and a cousin were caught leaving a party on Foote street in Northeast.
DC Police say someone opened fire on the pair with robbery as the motive. Robinson's cousin may have fired his weapon too before escaping.
Police say bullet casings were all over the street where David Lee Robinson was discovered dead from gunshot wounds. His expensive Niki Rookie shoes for which he had paid more than $200 were gone.
On videotape, Robinson discussed his first shooting and the possibility that he could have been killed. "I was thinking about that....doing something different".
Friends say he had gotten a job at a Home Depot and was looking forward, along with his girlfriend, to the birth of their first child.
Police are offering a $25,000 reward for information in the slaying.
