WOODBRIDGE, Va. (WUSA) -- A 36-year-old man is accused of cutting the brake line of a car belonging to an acquaintance in Woodbridge.
Prince William County Police say 36-year-old Kevin Christian Reilly of Woodbridge has been charged in the incident.
Police say on Dec. 30 at 9:46AM, officers responded to a report for vehicle tampering in the 4100 block of Wind Flower Ct. Officers' investigation revealed that Reilly had cut the brake line on a vehicle belonging to a 23-year-old woman, said police.
The woman and her two-year-old child got into the car, unaware of the vehicle condition, but the brakes became unresponsive. The woman was able to stop the car safely and no additional damage was done, according to police. Neither the woman nor her child were injured.
Officers determined Reilly was the suspect.
Reilly is charged with two counts of attempted malicious wounding, vehicle tampering and
destruction of property.
He is being held on a $5,000 secured bond.
