MONTGOMERY COUNTY (WUSA) -- Montgomery County Police are investigating a peeping tom incident that occurred at the Guess store in the Westfield Montgomery Shopping Mall.
Detectives say they've arrested 18-year-old Gonzalo Quevedo-Garcia of Gaithersburg for his involvement with the crime.
Around 12:30 p.m. on December 10, a 24-year-old female entered the Guess store in the mall. She was approached by Quevedo-Garcia who assisted her in finding several pairs of jeans. The female then entered a fitting room that Quevedo-Garcia selected for her to try on the jeans. While trying on the jeans, the female was asked several times by Quevedo-Garcia if she needed any help. She declined and stated that she was fine. The female then noticed Quevado-Garcia's shoes close to the fitting room door and a cell phone positioned on the floor in front of his feet in such a way that made her believe that he was filming her inside the fitting room.
At this point, the female flung open the fitting room door and and immediately went to the register to make her purchase. She left the store and contacted police.
Quevado-Garcia is charged with one count of peeping tom and one count of visual surveillance with prurient intent. Quevado-Garcia was released on his own recognizance on December 21 with a court date scheduled for February 7, 2012 at 8:30 a.m.
Anyone with information about this crime or anyone who believes that he/she may also be a victim is asked to contact the 2nd District Station at 301.652.9200.
