WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA) -- These days it seems children get everything they want, from video game systems to lip gloss.
Some parents say their children don't appreciate how much money it costs to give them all of their heart's desires.
One fed up mom decided to change the way her children view money by making them get a job.
Of course it wasn't a 9-5, but it wasn't your everyday chores, like making the bed or taking out the trash.
It was career based, built for children.
Alisa Weinstein, author of "Earn It and Learn It" is now sharing her "Earn My Keep" allowance program with other parents.
Weinstein joined 9NEWS NOW's Mike Hydeck to talk about how this helps children learn to save and help adults remember to have fun with money.
