WASHINGTON (WUSA/AP) -- Democrat Vincent Orange will be DC's new at-large city council member.

He captured 28 percent of the vote in Tuesday's special election.

Nine candidates were vying to fill the seat vacated by Kwame Brown when he became council chairman, including Democrat Sekou Biddle, who held the seat on an interim basis, and State Board of Education member Patrick Mara, the only Republican in the race.
