WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- A light pole fell on the tracks at the New York Ave-Florida Ave-Gallaudet U Metro station and made contact with a train Friday afternoon.

Taryn McNeil with Metro says the call about the light pole came in around 3:15 p.m. Friday. Metro says that the light pole made contact with the Red Line train.

No one was injured when the pole came down but a Metro operator was evaluated for some chest pains following the incident.

After the incident, trains were holding in the direction of Shady Grove and a Metro alert showed delays in both directions.

The train involved in the incident was moved back to the New York Avenue station.

Crews removed the light pole from the tracks and the tracks are now open.

MARC officials say due to signal problems between Union Station and Rockville all trains will experience significant delays. MARC reports Train 873 with a 3:35 p.m. departure to Brunswick is currently 30 minutes late. It also reports Train 891 with a 3:50 p.m. departure to Frederick is currently 15 minutes late.
