Newark, NJ (Sports Network) - The New Jersey Devils have activated defenseman
Anton Volchenkov from the injured reserve list.
Volchenkov was placed on injured reserve October 30, retroactive to October 9,
and had missed the team's last 11 games. He was sidelined with a stiff neck
suffered in the October 9 game against the Washington Capitals.
He has played in just two games with the Devils after signing a six-year deal
as a free agent on July 1.
The 6-foot-1, 225-pound Russian posted four goals and 14 points with 38
penalty minutes in 64 games for Ottawa last season.
Over 428 career games since 2002, Volchenkov has amassed 16 goals, 94 points,
297 penalty minutes and a plus-61 rating all for the Senators.
The Devils made a number of other roster moves Friday, recalling goaltender
Jeff Frazee and defenseman Alexander Urbom from Albany of the American Hockey
League and placing defenseman Matthew Corrente on the injured reserve list,
retroactive to October 27, with a broken left hand.
