7 people shot overnight in DC

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Police officers are investigating after seven people were shot, one critically, in a span of four hours in the District overnight.

The first happened at 9:35 p.m. Wednesday in the unit block of 46th Place NE. Two men were shot one in the head and another several times in the back. The man shot in the head was in critical condition, say police officials. The other man was conscious at the hospital. The police issued a look-out for a black male, approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall with dreads. He was wearing a white t--shirt. Police were also searching for a gray Nissan.

Shortly after that shooting, at 9:41 p.m. , police say two men were shot in the 4700 block of Minnesota Avenue NE. One man was shot in the thigh and the other in the stomach. Police say both were suffered non-life threatening injuries. In this case, police issued a lookout for a black Nissan Maxima with tinted windows.

A woman was grazed in the head by a bullet at 11:05 p.m. at MLK Jr. Avenue at Malcolm X Avenue, SE. Police say they are not sure if she was hit by a stray bullet or if she was the intended target in the shooting. There was no lookout issued in this case.

A man heard five or six shots before he realized he had been shot in the leg at 1:12 a.m. Thursday in the 3300 block Croffut Place SE, say police. He did not see where the bullet originated. The man was driven to an area hospital for treatment, according to police. There was no suspect description in this case.

Police issued a look-out for a gold four-door vehicle occupied by two suspects following a shooting at 7th Street and N Street NW. A man was shot in the leg at approximately 1:30 a.m., say police. He was conscious on transport.
