$5,000 reward offered in dog sexual abuse case

ISLE OF WIGHT, Va. (WVEC) -- PETA is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information on a disturbing case of sexual abuse of a dog after vets found the plastic end of a broom handle lodged in her backside..

Huggles was picked up as a stray dog by a family on Tyler Drive in Windsor on April 29.

According to Isle of Wight County Sheriff's Office the vets performed dental work, removed a tumor and spayed her. After the surgeries, she continued to suffer from discharge, bleeding and lethargy.

During a follow up surgery on June 14, the vets revealed that a plastic end of a broom handle was lodged inside her.

The Isle of Wight County Sheriff's Office is currently leading the investigation into who is responsible for the apparent sexual abuse of the dog.
